FOR OPTIMAL TASTE, FOLLOW TO THE SUGGESTIONS DESCRIBED BELOW

Steps in shot preparation and grinding :

  1. Place the empty specimen jar on the ultra precise ACAIA SCALE and turn it on (one tap on/off button). Stay in TARE mode (0.00, long press on/off to switch modes if the timer mode is on) and TARE the specimen jar if needed (tap on T). (It weighs about 7 g, i.e. you should see roughly -7 when you take it off the scale after taring)
  2. Weigh inthe recommended amount of beans (on the lbasecoffee.ausjan.com page (QR) from the black Airscape container.
  3. Lift the grinder lid, place the beans into the silver funnel and close the lid. Make sure the stainless steel collecting container is under the chute of the grinder before you switch it on!
  4. On-Off switch is on the right side, can’t be missed. If the lid is open, the grinder stops. Please wait until ALL BEANS have passed through the burrs and into the collector. 
  5. Place the portafilter upside down onto the stainless collector (that fits perfectly) and turn both around. Do not try to shake/pour the grind into the portafilter basket!  
  6. Carefully lift the stainless collector from the portafilter (don’t spill your grind) and replace with the dark grey plastic funnel back onto the portafilter. Using the provided epidural needle (sticks on QR paper on the side of the machine) vigorously stir the grinds in spiral fashion to achieve consistent even distribution across the whole basket. (This step improves the extraction.)
  7. Tamp strongly avoiding skewing the tamper (suggest touching down the ring of the tamper and basket simultaneously). Compress the grind as much as possible - no need to be gentle.

Steps in Espresso Extraction:

  1. Weigh the coffee beverage (output)! => Center the scale onto the tray of the Espresso Machine.
  2. Place your cup onto the scale and TARE it. 
  3. Lock the portafilter into place and start the pump as usual to extract your espresso.
  4. !!! Extract 48-50 g of NETTO beverage MAX!! Less is OK too. 
  5. Ignore the timer on the display of the machine. This doesn’t matter in extraction.
